A cosmic game blog from Melbourne
Charting worlds beyond the last save point
Deep-dive RPG reviews, indie gems, boss-fight breakdowns and the strange lore hiding in your favourite galaxies — written weekly from a tiny studio on Gertrude Street.
Our journey
Five years chasing the horizon
2020 — First checkpoint
Started as a late-night newsletter reviewing indie roguelikes, sent to 40 friends from a Fitzroy share-house kitchen table.
2022 — Level up
Hit 100,000 monthly readers, launched our weekly boss-guide series and moved into the studio on Gertrude Street.
2023 — New allies
Grew to a team of six writers covering JRPGs, cosmic horror sims and cosy farming games across every platform.
Today — Endgame content
Publishing 12 features a week, a monthly zine and a listener-voted Game of the Month, all still independent and reader-funded.
How we play & publish
From first boot to full review
We play to the credits
Every title gets a minimum 20 hours before a word is written — no launch-day hot takes.
Notes & capture
We log every mechanic, screenshot and difficulty spike so nothing gets lost in the void.
Honest write-up
Two editors fact-check and pressure-test every verdict before it ever goes live.
Publish & discuss
Reviews drop every Thursday with an open community thread for your own campfire takes.

What the community says
"Their Ashenfall lore guide got me through the final act after I'd been stuck for a week. No other blog goes this deep."
— Priya M., Carlton · March 2024
"Finally a review site that actually finishes the games. I bought Meadowlight purely on their word and it's my game of the year."
— Jordan T., Brunswick · January 2024
"The Thursday drop is the only newsletter I read start to finish. Sharp writing and never bought by a publisher."
— Sam K., Fitzroy North · November 2023

Frequently asked
Are your reviews sponsored?
Never. WarriorMoonQuest is entirely reader-funded through our membership and monthly zine. We buy most games ourselves, and any review copy is clearly disclosed at the top of the article.
How do you score games?
We ditched the 1–10 number years ago. Instead every review ends with a plain verdict — Play It, Wishlist It, or Skip It — plus who the game is really for and how long it took us to finish.
Can I pitch a guest article?
Absolutely. We run two guest features a month and pay per published piece. Send a short pitch through the contact form below and our editors will reply within a week.
What does membership cost?
Membership is AUD $8 a month or $80 a year. It unlocks the ad-free site, early access to reviews, the printed zine and a vote in our Game of the Month. You can cancel anytime.
